What is a SaaS-enabled marketplace?

A SaaS-enabled marketplace is a marketplace that can also be used as a software tool alone to help (usually the supply-side) manage business tasks like scheduling, payments, communications. A great example of a SaaS-enabled services marketplace is Opentable, a marketplace that connects hungry customers and restaurants that also acts as the restaurant’s customer and booking management system.

There are many types of SaaS-enabled marketplaces depending on the types of users that participate in them and the unique needs that each industry presents.
