What is a B2C Marketplace?
A business-to-consumer (B2C) marketplace is one where businesses (small or large) transact with consumers. The key difference here from B2B marketplaces or P2P marketplaces is that the consumers don’t ever list things on the marketplace themselves. A great example of a B2C services marketplace is ZocDoc.com, a marketplace for booking health services with local doctors, as most consumers who book on ZocDoc are not doctors themselves.
A better known example of a B2C product marketplace is Amazon as the consumers are not usually sellers/businesses that list products on Amazon as well.
There are many types of B2C marketplaces depending on the types of users that participate in them and the unique needs that each industry presents.
