What is a B2B Marketplace?
A business-to-business (B2B) marketplace is one where businesses transact with other businesses (small or large). A great example of a B2B services marketplace is Upwork.
Upwork is an online network where businesses of any size can hire independent professionals and agencies for jobs in design, sales, marketing, product development, and more.
Another well-known example of a B2B product marketplace is Alibaba. Alibaba is a wholesale marketplace for businesses looking to purchase large quantities of products at the lowest price directly from suppliers. It’s kind of like the Costco version of Amazon where businesses buy everything in bulk for much cheaper.
There are many types of B2B marketplaces depending on the types of businesses that participate in them and the unique needs that each industry presents.
